Very Practical Day to Day Wine Glasses & Great Value for Money May 23, 2010 SanjeevP (Michigan, USA) After breaking innumerable wine glasses with stem, I was thinking that there had to be a better solution. Not finding any wine glasses that I liked, at Crate & Barrel, I just started browsing at Amazon and serendipitously ran into these. What a great find!
First I got four red wine glasses and I liked them so much that I bought a set of white wine glasses too. The glasses are well made, very stable, easily cleaned by hand or in dishwasher, and great value for money. They are big 16-17 ounce glasses. That is really the only drawback of these stemless wine glasses compared to the wine glasses with stem, which are usually 6-8 oz. Accidentally you could end up drinking more.
I also have Riedel O Cabernet/Merlot Wine Tumblers, Set of 2l which are nicely made but way too expensive and not worth the price - because they also include the cost of snobbery. I enjoy drinking wine more from these Libbey Vina Stemless glasses than those expensive Riedel O Tumblers, red or white. And these Libby glasses are great value for money.
Love these glasses! November 3, 2009 Sherry Deleo (Port Hadlock,WA, United States) I have never liked regular, stemmed wine glasses so I was very happy to find out these are the "new" wine glasses. They do hold quite a bit of wine so I only fill them part way. They are easy to hold on to, and don't tip over easily.
Slippery when wet. October 17, 2009 Lainy (Wisconsin) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After realizing how much more these glasses hold than stemware, I serve either red or white wine in the white wine glasses. Being an uncouth wine drinker, and know there are others out there like me, I have to warn ya that if you serve frig-cold wine in these glasses on a hot day, you'll wish for the stem. The condensation makes the glasses slippery, and washing them by hand makes them super slippery. While washing them, one jumped out of my hand like a live fish! It landed safely on the hardwood floor though. That's something a stemmed glass could never achieve after a leap 1/4 that height.
Given my choice, I'd rather drink wine out of a stemmed glass -- if I'm somewhere other than home where as a guest my small glass is kept filled by the host, and where someone else sweeps up the glasses they break.
Great glasses July 12, 2009 The Tabitha (Pasadena, CA) This glasses are so cute and really fun to use at dinner parties. If you are not a hard core wine drinker then these are for you.
Beautiful May 14, 2009 Heather (Davidsonville, MD) Great price and product. Bought them for my parents on Christmas and they get a lot of use, we're big wine drinkers. Bought the red wine glasses as well. Inexpenseive and great quality, no glass etching in 5 months, we run them through the dishwasher.
