I am impressed with how long my coffee stays hot in this carafe. The only small issue I have is, when pouring the lid loosens a bit and should be tightened. But, overall I am very pleased with this purchase.Alfi Sophie Ink Blue Thermal Carafe, 8-Cup

This is a lovely shade of cobalt blue. When it first arrived, I thought: oh no, it doesn't look big enough. I was wrong: it does hold eight cups and and the seal on the top is good, keeping my chai piping hot. I think it's a really lovely-looking carafe and it meets my needs perfectly.

When I read the reviews of this item, I saw the numerous complaints about the poor packaging, items arriving damaged and scratched, etc. I assumed that these reviews had had the desired effect and that the packaging had been improved so as not to damage the carafe. I received mine today and it was loose in the box. A few of those puffy packaging things had been stuffed in the box, but the carafe was not wrapped. As a consequence, it arrived with two big scratches in the surface, and the rest of the surface scuffed. I am actually really surprised by the sloppiness of this, the carelessness, and the waste involved in ruining a perfectly good piece of merchandise. The carafe looks nice. I'm sorry they were so careless, and am sending it back.

A simple thing, you'd think, finding a good coffee/hot beverage carafe, but after searching a half-dozen local stores I realized only heavy ugly brushed metal units were readily available, and aesthetics matter much to my wife. Of the many fine-looking and sounding carafes listed on Amazon, the Kaiser Alfi definitely caught my eye, sounded well-designed and dependable, looked quite nice (we got the ink blue). It's been excellent, works like a charm, just remember to pump the little cap handle a few times to reseal after filling it or pouring -- coffee stays hot for hours, it's easy to clean, looks great -- we'd highly recommend it, great product for the price.
Not Shiny and New Like the Photo November 20, 2009

I received my Kaiser Alfi carafe today and was more than a little disappointed to find that it was not shiny and new looking like the photo depicts. Did it start out that way? That's anyone's guess. The carafe was just loosely thrown into a large box with some of the air pillows on top. The carafe is covered with scratches and looks dirty and if I weren't needing to use it for Thanksgiving dinner I'd send it back. This is not the kind of service I expect from Amazon, especially when I read that this has happened in the past with this same carafe.
